Offshore mini container is a special type of offshore container, which usually has a smaller size and flexible use characteristics. Here are some introductions about it:
Features
Small size: Compared with standard offshore containers, mini containers are significantly smaller in size, and common ones include 6-foot mini containers. This smaller size makes it more flexible in transportation and operation, and can adapt to some places with limited space and specific transportation needs.
Suitable for specific goods: Suitable for long-distance transportation of small, fragile, and high-value goods, which can reduce the risk of damage to goods during transportation. For example, some precision instruments, electronic products, high-end clothing and other items can be transported in mini containers to better protect the safety of goods.
Diverse transportation modes: Inland point-to-point delivery and mixed loading of transit goods and non-transit goods can be achieved through sea-rail and sea-air combined transportation modes. This multimodal transportation method can give full play to the advantages of different transportation modes, improve transportation efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and provide customers with more convenient logistics solutions.
Application areas
Offshore oil and gas industry: Used to transport various small parts, consumables, etc. required by offshore oil platforms during the exploitation and use process. For example, some precision instruments and small mechanical parts can be transported by mini containers and supplied to offshore platforms conveniently and quickly.
Marine engineering field: In marine engineering construction, it may be used to transport some special building materials, small tools, etc. For example, some small parts and electrical equipment used in offshore wind farm construction, mini containers can safely transport these goods to the construction site.
Other fields: In some offshore scientific research surveys, fishery farming and other fields, it can also be used to transport related small equipment and materials. For example, when the scientific research team conducts ecological surveys in the offshore, mini containers can be used to transport sampling equipment, experimental instruments, etc.; in fishery farming, it can be used to transport feed, medicines and other materials required for farming.
Design and manufacturing requirements
Meet strength and safety standards: Although the size is small, it still needs to meet the relevant strength and safety standards of offshore containers, such as DNV 2.7-1 standards. It must be able to withstand external forces such as wind and wave impact and hoisting stress during maritime transportation to ensure the safety of goods and personnel.
Good corrosion resistance: Due to the marine environment, mini containers need to be made of corrosion-resistant materials, such as stainless steel, weathering steel, etc., or undergo special anti-corrosion treatment, such as spraying anti-corrosion paint, to extend their service life.
Equipped with suitable lifting and fixing devices: In order to facilitate lifting and fixing, mini containers are usually equipped with special lifting ears, lashing points and other devices. These devices need to be strictly designed and tested to ensure that they can work reliably during lifting and transportation.
