The "Blue Whale 2" represents the highest level in the design and construction of offshore drilling platforms in the world today, enabling China's deepwater oil and gas exploration and development capabilities to enter the ranks of the world's advanced level. It is worth mentioning that the "Blue Whale 2" integrates more than 27,000 pieces of equipment. All the design, construction, building and commissioning of the "Blue Whale 2" were completed by CIMC Raffles. It is applicable to 95% of deep-sea operations worldwide. In the global market share of deepwater semi-submersible drilling platforms, those "Made in Yantai" can account for 25%. World-renowned offshore engineering equipment enterprises in China, such as CIMC Raffles and Jereh Oil, have risen rapidly. In particular, Yantai offshore engineering has gained a high reputation in the fields of global semi-submersible platforms and jack-up platforms. Yantai is one of the five major marine construction bases determined by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China, and it is also the largest construction base for offshore deepwater oil and gas platforms in the country. According to the introduction, the design of the "Blue Whale 2" took eight months. The drilling platform has 27,354 offshore engineering containers, which are equipped with various kinds of equipment, more than 1,000 subsystems, over 40,000 pipelines and more than 50,000 inspection points. The length of cable laying reaches 1.2 million meters - equivalent to the distance from Beijing to Shanghai. The Blue Whale series are all built according to the standard of withstanding a typhoon of scale 16, and the performance indicators in all aspects have been significantly improved. The "Blue Whale 2" is equipped with an efficient hydraulic dual derrick and a world-leading closed-loop power system, which can increase the operating efficiency by 30% and save 10% of fuel consumption, greatly improving the energy-saving performance of the platform.
