Offshore Tank Container

Offshore Tank Container is a near-shore tank container, which is a container used for offshore transportation and storage of bulk cargo such as liquids or gases. It usually needs to meet relevant specifications such as DNV 2.7-1 standards. The following is a related introduction:

Structure and design

Tank body: Generally made of corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel, such as 316 stainless steel, to withstand the corrosion of the transported goods while ensuring that the purity and quality of the goods are not affected5. The tank liner has good sealing performance and is equipped with various necessary interfaces and valves, such as loading and unloading ports, exhaust ports, safety valve interfaces, etc., to facilitate the loading and unloading of goods and safety control during transportation.

Frame: Based on the DNV 2.7-1 standard, the frame is constructed with high-strength steel, which can withstand external forces in harsh offshore environments, such as wind and wave impact, lifting stress, etc. The frame is equipped with lifting points, lashing points and forklift forks, etc., which are convenient for lifting, lashing and fixing, and forklifting.

Features

Transportation function: It has a variety of sizes, including standard sizes such as 20 feet and 40 feet, and customized products with non-standard sizes to meet the needs of different cargo transportation volumes. It can be used to transport various liquid goods, such as petroleum, chemical raw materials, edible oil, alcohol, etc., as well as gaseous goods such as compressed gas and liquefied gas.

Safety function: It is usually equipped with complete safety devices, such as safety valves, emergency shut-off valves, liquid level gauges, thermometers, etc., to monitor and control the state of the goods in the tank to prevent safety accidents such as overpressure and leakage. At the same time, the design of the tank body and frame also takes into account safety requirements such as fire prevention, explosion prevention, and anti-static, and complies with relevant international and domestic safety standards.

Insulation and heating function: Some offshore tank containers also have insulation or heating functions to meet the transportation requirements of temperature-sensitive goods. For example, for some goods that are easy to solidify at low temperatures or deteriorate at high temperatures, the goods can be kept within a suitable temperature range by installing insulation layers, heating coils or electric heating devices.

Application scenarios

Offshore oil and gas industry: used to transport crude oil, refined oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), etc., and transport products extracted from offshore oil and gas fields to refineries or storage facilities onshore.

Marine chemical industry: can transport various chemical raw materials and products, such as acids, alkalis, organic solvents, etc., to provide support for marine chemical production and transportation.

Other fields: in marine fisheries, it can be used to transport fishing fuel, liquid feed, etc.; in other marine engineering fields such as offshore wind power, it can also be used to transport related liquid materials or equipment oil, etc.

Offshore tank containers used to transport dangerous goods must also comply with the standards of IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code) based on DNV 2.7-1.
