Offshore Tanks: Specialized Equipment for Liquid Storage and Transportation in Offshore Engineering
Offshore tanks are specialized liquid storage and transportation equipment designed exclusively for offshore engineering scenarios. Typically integrated into offshore frames compliant with the DNV 2.7-1 standard, they serve as key carriers for the transportation of offshore oil and gas as well as chemicals.
Constructed from corrosion-resistant materials (such as carbon steel and stainless steel), these tanks are adapted to the salt spray and high-humidity offshore environments. Their external frames feature lifting and stacking capabilities, meeting the requirements for transfer and deployment on offshore platforms. Primarily used for storing liquid substances including crude oil, chemical solvents and fresh water, some of these tanks must additionally obtain certification under the IMDG Code to be suitable for the transportation of dangerous goods.
On offshore oil and gas platforms, they can function as temporary oil storage facilities to connect the extraction and transportation processes; in wind power operation and maintenance, they undertake the task of storing power fuels like diesel; they are also applicable for storing water samples and reagents in marine scientific research projects. With their compliance and durability, offshore tanks have become one of the core pieces of equipment for liquid material management in offshore engineering.
